Therapeutic Style: As a therapist, Sammi is passionate about coming alongside others and meeting them where they currently are in their healing and growth journey. Sammi stives to cultivate an environment where clients feel validated, safe, accepted, and challenged. She believes all clients hold within themselves the strengths and tools to move towards full healing and recovery.

Sammi strives to place the counseling relationship at the forefront of the work she does, believing in the true strength and courage of each individual. She desires for the client to feel free to express emotions and beliefs, develop healthy coping skills for everyday living, and build strong support systems. She believes in utilizing a strengths-based and person-centered framework when working with clients.

Sammi continues to enjoy her work treating individuals who face challenges, such as trauma, eating disorders, LGBTQI+ populations, depression, anxiety, and life transitions. Sammi works from a health at every size (HAES) perspective and believes in cultivating body acceptance and trust for clients who have challenges around body image, and food.

Educational History: Sammi graduated from Oklahoma State University with a double degree in Political Science and Sociology. She then graduated with a M. Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Vanderbilt University.

Certifications/Experiences: Before starting her counseling journey, Sammi gained skills as a wilderness survival instructor and a teacher with Teach for America. She also interned at the Lipscomb Counseling Center. Sammi is currently being trained in comprehensive DBT.

Favorite Self-Care: Sammi enjoys trying new foods, finding a new plant to add to her collection weekly, working in the garden, camping, and laughing with some of her favorite people.

Hobbies: Sammi enjoys spending time outside with her boyfriend and their pup Berg, finding the best slice of pizza in Nashville, and playing all the escape rooms she can find.
